Sports Premium Funding

Sports Premium 2016-17

What is Sports Premium?

The government is spending over £450 million on improving physical education (PE) and sports provision in primary schools over the 4 academic years 2013-2014, 2014-2015, 2015-2016 and 2016-17. This extra funding is allocated directly to primary schools.

At Market Weighton Infant School, we recognise the contribution PE has to the health and well-being of our children.  We believe that an innovative, varied PE curriculum and extra curricular opportunities have a positive influence on the concentration, attitude and academic achievement of all our children.

The fourth amount of this funding - provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health & Culture and Media & Sport - will be allocated to schools in the Autumn Term 2016. This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on the provision of PE and sport in schools.
